Roy W. Kent, founder of Kent Realty, began selling real estate in 1947. For 2 years he worked for a local agency which was operated by J.W. Gallaher. In 1949, these two realtors formed a partnership and called their business Gallaher & Kent Realty. They constructed an office building at 300 E. Liberty St. in Mexico, Missouri, and their main business was real estate and insurance sales. They also developed subdivisions, constructed homes, and made loans. In 1967, Gallaher & Kent dissolved their partnership and Roy Kent continued at 300 E. Liberty as owner and operator of Kent Realty. In 1970, Ron Kent joined the firm as a sales associate and 13 years later, in 1983, he became a full partner. Three years later, 1986, Ron Kent became sole owner and operator of the company. The company still operates as Kent Realty with two sales associates. Since 1949, this firm has continually developed subdivisions and as a result Kent Realty has developed a significant portion of Mexico, Missouri.
